Colt's Story and success

To learn how to help Autism Holistically contact our office, 434-481-2012 and we will be happy to direct you to great support and treatment resources.  Understanding that unborn children developing inside mom's tummy still  are subject to the presence of toxic pollution around her.  Depending on their genetic makeup sometimes these "stressors" cause developmental problems.   Finding the chemicals that are stressing the Mom's body and therefore the developing baby is crucial.  I look and test for things like mold toxins, pesticides, heavy metals, food additives and immune challenge that have to be "cleaned out"  before healing a "sensitized brain" can happen.  Testing is essential to finding and creating an individualized support program using natural supplements.

This approach helps autistic people but should not be considered a "cure".

**No cure or specific treatment is implied in this story each person is different.  The FDA has not evaluated any of the statements herein for accuracy or any other reasons.

Scientifically speaking certain supplements target the mitochondria in muscle, brain, and heart cells repairing them or stimulating the cell's DNA to act in a healthier fashion.  I believe this is what happened in Colt's case, increased mitochondria numbers and elevated them to higher, more normal level of function.  Autistic children and many other diseases have a mitochondrial defect or weakness as part of the problem and low cellular concentrations of good working mitochondria.  When you help the DNA inside the brain cells, specifically their mitochondrial DNA segments you improve the cells' function to do its job and then life and awareness for these kids improves.  My instructor in college swore that his nutritional intervention in his son's early life "cured" that child's autism and that he never had any back sliding and is a fully functioning normal adult for decades now (my instructor was 72 yrs old at that time he related this testimonial to the class).

Here is the Colts' mother, Stephanie's daily diary entries about her son and his improvement.  It is not a miracle but the improvement is great!  A bit long but well worth the read.  My favorite parts are her comments filled with awe and excitement as the possibility of Colt being more normal 8 yr old boy. I just loved the amazement and joy she expresses as she watches her autistic son "wake up" and be able to interact with her and the rest of the family.  This is something we all take for granted but without love coming back from our children even the unconditional love of a parent can be saddened and very trying at times.  I am happy for her and her entire family.

For all of you who do not know my son, Colt is 8 years old. He was diagnosed with Autism ~ 5 years ago. At 14 months of age, we were concerned about possible sensory issues/ challenges and at 16 months of age we started working with professionals and educators. Colt has no known allergies nor does he take any medications.

This journal is our daily observations since Colt has started on his specific mitochondrial support supplements.  Contact Dr. D for details as each case differs as to exactly what that person needs to help their mitochondria act more efficiently.

I have attached a link to the article that was published in Autism Speaks connecting Autism with a mitochondria dysfunction. This article not only caught my attention, it has helped to open a window for my son.

Along with these supplements, Colt takes 2 Kids High Antioxidant multivitamins on a consistent daily basis. He drinks ~ 1 bottle of his super antioxidant Gac Fruit Juice cocktail in a week and we recently started Colt on the Probiotics ...

December 04th . Day 1: Colt took his supplements - 9 am

         better eye contact 2 hours after he took his supplement

December 05th . Day 2: Colt took 2 of his supplements - 9 am

        Better eye contact. Excess energy in the area of his libido (tell you that story another time), taking it back down to 1 of his supplements

December 06th . Day 3: 1 of his supplements - 3 pm

Better eye contact and thought process when forming his sentences and relaying his ideas
swam 10 laps in the pool after having been out of the pool for 13 days. His para was beyond proud as she thought he might make 6 laps, tippy toe walking is getting less, obsession with computer lessening. Colt was able to occupy himself with music, watch a movie, help dad pick out a Christmas tree and get involved with the family looking at all the Christmas ornaments and tell stories to me while I was cooking dinner. Flapping of arms lessened ... trying to dance instead of jumping and flapping his arms sporadically when he gets over stimulated. Actually, he didn't get over stimulated last night. Colt went to bed at 9 pm.

December 07th . Day 4: 1 of his supplements - 7 am and 1 more at 3 pm

         Colt woke up at 6:30 am. He seemed to feel pretty refreshed. Colt enjoys his supplements mixed in with his yogurt.

         Picked up Colt from school at 2:30 pm. Tana informed me that Colt had a fabulous morning. Stayed focused and his swimming/ diving went really well.

         1:15 Colt became confused and anxious. His autistic tendencies came back full blown with the uncomfortable flapping of the arms and wanting to leave the room/ situation.

         3:00 pm we are at home. Dave and I decided to give Colt one more His supplements to see if the above was caused because the morning dose was not enough.
         4:26 pm Colt has decided to read Christmas stories and listen to music instead of having his computer privileges. He is still bouncing around, but trying to dance instead of simply flapping arms and making funny faces. And Colt just asked me if we could go and see "Tron Legacy" at the movie theater this is HUGE because he doesn't like to go out ... he would rather wait until a movie come out on or Net Flix!

         6:00 pm Colt still hasn't asked to use the computer and Dave and I are not going to offer it. He willingly sat down and did 3 pages of his home work and we just finished reading three chapters in a Christmas story book.

         8:00 pm ... WOW. Colt made it through the entire day not once getting on the computer. He actually enjoyed some time with his family and we thoroughly enjoy having him participate with us! He went to bed at 8:00 pm.

          Siblings ... still interacting as usual ... provoking one another ...

December 08th . Day 5: 1 of his supplements plus 2 children’s antioxidant multivits at 7:00 am . 1 of his supplements at 3:30 pm

         Colt woke up at 6:40 am and was wondering why I didn't get him up earlier. He was hungry for some breakfast. I still had to help him get dressed, but the morning went smoothly. I pick him up at 2:30 pm will check in with Tana (para professional) at that time.

 BREAK THROUGH! Wow. Colt had an amazing day at school,Tana couldn't contain her excitement! Colt actually sat with a new friend at lunch, but that wasn't all. He PLAYED with friends on the playground and actually enjoyed it. Colt climbed the chain ladder, played tether ball, went down the slides ... this is hug! Colt's typical day on the playground is walking the parameter of the playground flapping his little arms and staying away from the kids.

I gave Colt his second supplement at 3:30 pm. Today he asked if he could use the computer. I suggested that we read a book first. We actually snuggled and read an 11 chapter Christmas book (an hour).   Dave and I did let Colt use the computer for 30 minutes afterwards, but within 15 minutes on the computer, he started flapping his arms so we suggested that we do something different. Computer went off.

We are decorating the Christmas tree and Colt is not interested in helping. We told him that it is important that he participate in the family activity so Colt decided to go and find some Christmas music. "We need background music to help" said Colt quote unquote.

Colt still had his moments today. Running around and making some funny faces while the music was playing, but I am still hopeful and so excited about his playground experience and participation!

December 9th . Day 6: 1 of his supplements at 7:00 am and 1 at 3:40 pm

          Another amazing Day for Colt... he is starting to socialize and play on the playground. Last night was also a wonderful observation ... Hunter had her Christmas performance. Dave, Colt and I were in the audience. A friend was sitting in the row in front and her 1 year old daughter started fussing. Colt was not bothered. He simply moved to the other side of Dave to be one seat further away. WOW!

December 10th . Day 7: 1 of his supplements at 7 am and 1 at 3:15 pm

Colt's swimming is getting stronger. His response time both physically and mentally is present. At the school Christmas performance rehearsal, Colt did get tired the standing around, hot lights, and routine of a traditional rehearsal seemed lengthy for most of the kids. In the past, Colt has always had his para with him, escorting him on and off stage as well as during the necessary times behind stage today, Colt informed his para that he could handle it and that he can hang out with his class mates WOW!

On our drive home from school today, Dave told a joke in the car Colt picked up on it and added to it.

Subtle observations, but HUGE progress in this family!

Today isn't quite over yet our Christmas tree fell over in the middle of the night, so we have some re-decorating to do. This morning when we woke to the "CRASH" Colt told me not to worry, "mom, we'll get it back together after school".

Colt still likes the repetition of music phrases, I am catching him on the computer going over and over one section of music. Two steps forward, one back.

December 11th . Day 8: 1 of his supplements at 8:00 am and 1 at 3:30 pm

Colt had a very productive Saturday. Colt helped his sister with a new language program "Hooked on French". He did spend time on the computer listening to music, however he is picking up rhythm ... trying to dance instead of simply flapping his arms. Colt also has been "present" ... I like to use that word because he is engaging in conversation, reading books to us and telling us stories. His creativity is blossoming. And, Friday evening Colt sat still for an entire 3 hour film. Another FIRST!

December 12th . Day 9: 1 of his supplements at 8 am ... no afternoon dose, got too busy

Colt had a wonderful morning. He is PRESENT. He is playing and interacting with his sister. We gave Colt more computer time this morning, but told him that if he started jumping around and flapping his "wings" he would have to choose something else to do. We kept a close eye on him ... Colt would catch himself and start to dance instead ... I give him credit!

3:00 pm the kids decorated gingerbread cookies. Colt was so proud of his man creation!

Around 4:45 pm Colt started to run around in circles again ... head down, jumping and running  Dave and I asked him what he was doing, "I'm thinking this is how I can think." Time had escaped me and I had forgotten to give Colt his afternoon His supplements. Nervous that it might keep him up all night, Dave and I decided to wait and give him another in the morning.

December 13th . Day 10: 1 of his supplements at 7:15 am and 1 at 3:00 pm

Colt had a hard time waking up this morning. I let him sleep in until 7:15 am. I called his bus driver and told her that I would bring Colt to school this morning. I must say, Colt did get himself dressed all by himself . Today was a switch ... it is usually Colt up early and our princess Hunter that needs the extra beauty sleep. Hunter made the bus and Colt got a ride. Will see how he does in swimming this morning.

Colt's days at school seem to be evening out. He was a bit tired throughout the day, but was able to focus on what needed to get done. No major breakthroughs however his level of engagement has changed for the better.

December 14th . Day 11: 1 of his supplements at 7:00 am and 1 at 3:30 pm

Today is Colt's performance night. I know that he is excited and nervous. The rehearsal was this morning and Miss Tana said that he did a fine job. She purposely sat in the audience to see if Colt could handle the task of staying with his class behind stage and follow direction when it was their turn, 2 thumbs up!

6:30 pm had to get Colt to Sitka performing Arts Center. The 3rd and 5th graders will perform ... program will last ~ 1 1/2 hours. Colt did GREAT! He not only kept up with his class and the direction, but he was singing the songs and was really enjoying the experience. After the performance he gave me a HUGE hug and wanted to know if we could have some "family time" before going to bed. He also enjoyed watching the performance on video and sang the songs all over again!

December 15th . Day 12: 1 supplements at 6:45 am and 1 at 4:30 pm

Another good day for Colt!  He is counting down the days until Christmas and reminded me that he has an "Australian" Holiday Party in school on Friday. I didn't get to speak with his para today as we had Colt take the bus home, but he was very cooperative doing his homework this evening. He wasn't as focused as I would have like, but he didn't put up a fight which is typical. Also, I was starting a baking project just before the kids were in bed ... Colt came in the kitchen and wanted to help me. Unfortunately it was too late for him to stay up and help, but we have many more projects over the next few days.

Again, the changes are becoming more subtle or maybe it is because they are becoming more consistent just loving the fact that he wants to participate and not disappear into another world.

December 16th . Day 13: 1 of his supplements at 8:00 am and 1 at 4:45 pm

The days are becoming more consistent with Colt's presence or awareness. This is making it harder for Dave and I in regards to noticing changes, however Colt is emerging from his shell. He is becoming aware of his expressions, emotions and actions. I feel as though I am getting to know my son all over again.

  1. Today was another milestone ... Dave was incredibly sick to the point that I was afraid he might pass out. I had to pick the kids up from school and take Hunter and her friend to ballet. I was nervous leaving Dave. I did call Kelley (my friend) to let her know what was going on.
  2. When I picked Hunter up from school, I also picked up her friend Dyana. When it was time to get Colt, he was perfectly fine knowing that another child was in the car (this is usually not a comfortable situation for Colt and he would rather take his bus ... another child in our car is "out of routine" for Colt.).
  3. I told Colt that he had to be a big boy and take care of his dad for me while I took the girls to ballet. He told me not to worry and that he would make sure dad was fine. I also asked Colt to call me every 20 minutes to check in and he did.
  4. At dinner, Colt filled me in on how he took care of his dad and what he thought might make Dave feel better. Colt suggested that Dave eat only chicken noodle soup to take the pain away from his stomach.
  5. Colt also made a Christmas ornament for us. He was incredibly proud. Again, in the past I was the one who would get excited about his projects and he would just say "yeah, we made this in class" and not really have any enthusiasm or understanding of what he had achieved. Today he showed Dave and I all his art projects and went into detail on how he made them.

I am finding myself sitting back and watching in amazement my son. He has always been a wonderful child, but over these years, I was in the habit of constantly reminding Colt of what he needed to do trying to keep him on track ... today, Colt was acting like a typical 8 year old. I know that we have a long way to go, but for those of us who know Colt ... we are meeting him all over again :~)

The holidays will be a wonderful time to see how Colt interacts or reacts to folks coming over to the house ... this will be our biggest challenge as our home is Colt's sanctuary and he is very uncomfortable when other children come to visit ... to the point that he will hide in his room for the entire time the visitors are here.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * *

December 17th . Day 14: 1 of his supplements at 7:00 am and 1 at 3:00 pm

Colt's interaction/engagement is becoming more consistent.

I met Colt at school today for his Christmas party and also to deliver presents to his teachers. When I arrived, his para told me that Colt was getting a bit overwhelmed with all the Christmas confusion and wanted to hang out in Miss Pilgrim's room (quiet space). When I asked if Colt wanted to deliver presents with me, his face lit up light a Christmas tree ... he was so excited to show me where all his teachers were AND he wanted his teachers to open their gifts right there so he could explain what was in each parcel.

After we finished delivering gifts, we went back into his class to participate in the Christmas "Australian" Party. Colt went by himself to the snack table and picked out a nice assortment of foods to try all by himself. Afterwards, I had to go to Hunter's school. As the timing was tight, I asked Colt if he wouldn't mind taking the school bus home. He was fine with that.

Tana also told me that Colt was looking for his new friend to sit with her at lunch. Also, Veronica encouraged Colt to climb up and go down the slides with her. Veronica is in 2nd grade and has to go in a few minutes earlier than Colt at recess. When she went down the slide, she ran in leaving Colt at the top with a lot of loud kids. When he came down, he told Tana (para) that it was too crowded up there, but he managed and didn't panic!

3:00 pm I gave Colt his second His supplements.

The kids are excited to be out for Christmas vacation. Both Colt and Hunter continually remind Dave and I how many days until Santa comes AND Colt pulled me aside and asked if he could help wrap presents. Absolutely, mom needs help. We also made a list of projects that we want to do this up-coming week.

8:00 pm the movie Avatar came on. Colt joined in and watched the movie with us until he realized that he had seen it twice before and asked if he could go in his room and watch a Christmas special instead.

December 18th . Day 15: 1 of his supplements at 8:30 am no afternoon dose

This morning the kids have been getting on each other's nerves. Colt would usually drop everything and help Hunter with whatever, but this morning he told me that if Hunter can wait for a few minutes he will help her, if she can't wait then he was sorry, but he was busy with some research. He is investigating music compositions specifically "house music sample breakdowns".

We are still finding that when Colt spends too much time on the computer he gets lost in a zone and starts to flap his arms and makes funny faces. As long as we can engage him in a conversation, that sensory release tends to decrease. His conversation skills are continuing to get better. Instead of talking at us with facts, Colt is interacting and responding in a real back and forth conversation.

I had some ladies over for a meeting. Cindy brought her grandson who is 14 months old. Colt saw that there was a baby in the house. Instead of the normal panic mode where he would run downstairs and hide in his room, Colt stayed up-stairs in the master bedroom and simply closed the door. Again, this is another improvement.

2:30 pm ... I had to go to the hospital for an unexpected emergency. Everything is OK. I bring this incident up because Colt stayed "out of his shell" to make sure that I was alright.

Also, because of the incident ... I forgot to give Colt his second dose of His supplements.

Colt continues to stay pretty calm even without the second dose.

December 19th . Day 16: 1 of his supplements at 9:00 am no second dose

Colt had a really hard time waking up this morning. He said that he was really, really tired. I gave him his supplements ~ 9:00 am.

It is 12:27 pm ... Colt is on the computer listening to more music. I had to remind him twice so far not to flap his arms. Hunter went in the room to dance. Colt is now dancing/ excising to the music with his sister. Jumping jacks, push-ups, sit-ups, running in place maybe I need to join them :~) He is keeping his heels down! Hunter is leading a GREAT exercise class and Colt is following along. Wow, they have been at this now for 20 minutes.

The day couldn't get any better. 3:30 pm Colt decided to join us for a pizza dinner and movie out. This is significant because Hunter's little friend, Vicky (5 years old) is coming with us. At the restaurant, Colt actually engaged in conversation with Vicky ... a real back and forth conversation! And we all enjoyed the film. And Colt did not try to run out and beat the crowd. Again, social situations are difficult for Colt and he tries to avoid them if at all possible. On the ride home, again, Colt was comfortable having Vicky ride with us! For me, another WOW!

Colt did not take his second dose, but seems calm and on track.

And I have to thank Colt's little sister, Hunter ... she is a super support and tries to keep Colt on track.

December 20th . Day 17: 1 of his supplements at 9:30 am no supplements in the afternoon

The day is just starting and Colt woke up refreshed and not groggy. looking forward to another wonderful day!

December 21 - 26th . days 18 - 23: each day 1 of his supplements in the morning and 1 in the afternoon ~ 3 pm

Everyday becomes more and more obvious that Colt's window of presence is sustaining. The breakthroughs are an everyday occurrence.

I took the kids Christmas shopping. We had a GREAT day! Shopping, shopping, lunch, and shopping some more! The kids were having such a fun time we forgot about the time. Colt did amazingly well to the point that he forgot about the time and our adventure didn't seem to bother him at all. Again, this is NOT typical for Colt. He usually will tolerate one or two errands before he insists that we go home (routine thing). Today ... we were able to be spontaneous, enjoy lunch out at a restaurant and shop at stores even with lots of crowds!

Christmas eve ... surprise visit from a friend and his daughter, Luke and Angeline. Angeline is 6 years old ... another step in the right direction, Colt did not hide. He was fine with company in the house.

Christmas morning both Colt and Hunter woke us up at 1:30 am excited that Santa had come and getting those kids back to bed was impossible so I was up with them until ~ 5 am! We all went back to sleep but they were bright eyed and bushy tailed at 7:30 am. WOW!

I only wish I had this one moment on film Colt was so excited. He ran over to me and gave me a huge hug and said "This is the BEST day ever!" Santa was good to the children, but this is the first time Colt actually understood/embraced what Christmas was all about.

We are still working on the flapping of the arms and running on his tippy toes when Colt gets over stimulated, but these actions are becoming noticeably less ... BIGGEST IMPROVEMENT ... Colt interacts and engages with us. Again, every day that window stays open longer and longer.

* * * * * * * * * * * * *

December 27th . day 24 . 1 of his supplements at 8:00 am no afternoon dose

Another wonderful start to a promising day, Colt is reading his sister a book and they are having a very cute discussion about what they want to name their new Elf.

It is snowing outside ... kids are both hoping that enough will come down to build a snowman.

* * * * * * * * * * * * *

December 28th . day 25 . 1 His supplements at 7:30 am no afternoon dose

GREAT day! Hunter had a friend over for the entire day. 7:30 am - 5:30 pm. Vicky is 5 years old ... Colt was not bothered. He did not hide. He didn't necessarily play with the girls, but he did not hide in his room all day ... he came up and helped himself to snacks, talked with them for a bit and was ... O.K. Around 4:30 pm he did get a bit nervous and asked that I call Vicky's mom. He didn't want Vicky to stay for a sleepover ... after I assured him that Vicky would be going home ... he was fine.

* * * * * * * * * * * *

December 29th . day 26 . 1 His supplements at 8:30 am  1 his supplements at 2:30 pm

Another really nice day, I'm using Colt's social opening to have playdates for Hunter. Another friend over at 12:00 pm - 5:30 pm ... Colt was hangin' out with the girls. He actually came and helped us make popcorn. And when Alyssa's mom came to pick Alyssa up ... Colt came out to say "hi" and bye".

Still working on his tippy toe walking and flapping wings ... but all is GOOD!

* * * * * * * * * * * * *

December 30th - January 2nd, day 27 - 30.  Each day 1 of his supplements in the morning ~ 9:00 am and 1 in the afternoon ~ 4:00 pm

Everyday Colt's window of social engagement continues to stay open! He knows and feels the difference. Colt is now choosing not to seclude himself, but participate in family activities. In the past, Dave and I would have to make Colt join in this is no longer the case.

December 30th. Hunter and I were playing a board game. We asked Colt if he would like to join us. Not only did he decide to try we played, laughed, giggled for ~ 1 1/2 hours!

December 31st. Hunter was at a birthday sleep-over, Dave fell asleep early that evening and Colt and I stayed up to bring in the new year! We watched movies and the fireworks outside!

January 2nd. Colt came to church with me and Hunter this morning. We also went out to lunch. Again, both places filled with people and children. Colt was absolutely fine! He also helped us take the ornaments off the Christmas tree. This is important to know because he was not asked and he was offered computer privileges. Colt told us that he would rather help his family!

Back to school tomorrow I will be curious as to how Colt's transition back to the school routine is and, of course, his teachers observations after not working with Colt for 2 weeks.

What a wonderful ending to 2010 and a very promising beginning to 2011!

January 3rd, day 31. 1 of his supplements at 7:00 am and 1 at 3:30 pm

First day back to school after Christmas break. Both babies were a bit sluggish to rise and shine at 6:15 am, but they did and they both made it in time to catch the bus.

2:25 pm. Hunter and I stopped by Colt's school to pick him up ... HOPSCOTH and WALL TAG! Both, games that he played at recess. His para was very proud of Colt's focus today.

On our way home from school, I had to stop at the grocery store. Colt didn't complain instead, he put in a snack request :~)

When we got home another wow.  Colt did not insist on getting on the computer. He told his dad all about his day at school, helped put the groceries away and asked for a snack. He did take advantage of his computer privileges for 45 minutes, but when it was time to get off no complaints.

Homework, one page we agreed upon and one page without a fuss!

Dinner time a family of 4 with many conversations I'm starting to get used to this!

Bed at 8 pm.

Thank you Lord for a perfect day :~)

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

January 04th, day 32 . 1 of his supplements at 6:45 am and 1 at 6:00 pm

Another good day at school, Colt is participating and playing with his friends, but today he was complaining of having an up-set stomach. His para said that his focus on his assignments was off, but Colt also hadn't told her about not feeling well until later in the afternoon and we gathered that was why his focus was off.

2:30 pm With a HUGE smile on his face, Colt told me "Thanks mom for picking me up because I don't feel well." I told both Colt and Hunter that their dad wasn't feeling the best either ... his toe hurt. As soon as we got home, Colt ran inside and wanted to make certain his dad was O.K. and wanted to let him know that it was alright because he didn't feel too hot either :~) Colt proceeded to get Dave a glass of juice to make him feel better and also wanted to make sure that I knew dad might need my assistance.

Again, Colt told his dad and I all about his day at school and forgot about his computer privileges ... we enjoyed the conversation and made some pop-corn. Colt did jump on the computer to listen to Billy Joel music ... and is now practicing dance moves!

5:15 pm time for homework ... Colt enjoys practicing his cursive hand writing. Math is another matter.  Colt lost total focus and started complaining and getting fidgety. I realized he hadn't had his second supplement dose.

6 pm gave Colt his second supplement dose. Within minutes back on track. Not complaining and we were able to finish one page of math problems. It took us ~ 20 minutes whereas we were struggling for 20 minutes before.

Another great meal-time all 4 in conversation. Hunter decided to read us two books during dinner as well :~)

Colt took a shower and got dressed on his own initiative  and also reminded Hunter that she had to do the same.

 * * * * * * * * * * * * *

January 5th, day 33. 1 of his supplements at 8:00 am and 1 at 6:00 pm

Rise and shine. Colt got up at 6:30 am without an issue. He even got dressed for school and came up for breakfast before I had to remind him! He had a good appetite this morning ... hoping his queasy stomach from yesterday won't be an issue today.

Colt still needs to catch up with his gross motor skills. We are planning on bringing his bike to school this week so his teachers can work with him on that during recess and PT time.

Nice afternoon. Colt did his homework without a fuss and again, a good appetite! And did I mention. Colt is really getting into dancing. I am impressed with the rhythm and he is now attempting "break-dancing" moves!

* * * * * * * * * * * * * *

January 6th, day 34.   1 his supplements at 6:45 am. 1 at 5:00 pm

GREAT morning up without a struggle, great appetite for breakfast, good morning at school AND did I say something?

Dave and I got a call from the school, Colt fell on the playground. I spoke with Colt on the phone and he sounded scared so I went down to see him and make certain he was OK.

The good news is that Colt is having a really fun time playing with his new friends ... the bad news is, his gross motor skills are still a bit delayed. One of the children accidently ran into Colt and he lost his balance.  When he fell he went face first into a pile of rocks! OUCH! His reaction time wasn't enough for his hands to come out and protect his face.

We didn't know the extent of the injuries and I'm not one to gamble with a head wound so off to the doctors.  He is fine, just bumps and bruises, but his beautiful little nose is broken. He is such a trooper and he will be just fine!

I think I was just as shaken up as he was.

5:00 pm Colt reminded me to give him his supplements. "This should help me heel better"

A little shaken up, but resting well this evening.

Keeping Colt home from school tomorrow.

January 7th, day 35. 1  of his supplements ~ 7:30 am and 1 at 3:30 pm

Good morning. Colt slept well all night. When he got up, Colt was concerned about all of his cuts, but he is healing up really nicely. I can see that he is a bit more stiff or hesitant in his movements. I'm sure he is sore.

The dark circles under his eyes are increasing but not too bad he has been complaining of an itchy nose we don't want him to rub it so he has been putting on a warm wash cloth.

Snuggled and watched TV shows most of the morning~ 10 am Colt wanted to listen to music and dance he has been enjoying various "nightclub" style French artists?????  and wanted me to listen and watch him dance. His movement a bit more withdrawn or cautious but he was really concentrating.

During the day, Dave and I noticed Colt starting to make blinking or squinting faces on and off for the afternoon pretty much stopped around dinner time. We asked him if he had a head ache or if his eyes hurt “no" was his response.

3:30 pm Colt took his second supplement.

This evening his stomach is bloated and he has not had a regular BM having him drink lots of water and relax.

Colt went to bed at 8:30 pm still not able to go to the bathroom.

January 8th, day 36 . 1 of his supplements at 9:00 am and 1 at 6 pm

Colt had a good morning. I had to rush out and do a "Girl Scout Cookie" drive with Hunter, but he and dad were relaxing when we left.

YEAH!  Colt was able to go to the bathroom rarely is he constipated and I was a bit concerned.

I had some work to attend to, but a good afternoon for us all!

January 9th, day 37. 1 supp at 9 am and 1 at 4:45 pm

Colt woke me up and wanted to watch some TV and relax before we went to church! This is week two that I have brought Colt to Church with me since he was in diapers. WOW, he really sees what is going on! We went to church an amazing sermon and I watched AND heard my son sing! I am a woman of faith and today The Lord opened another door!

When we returned home we got a phone call from a friend of Colt's from school ... she wanted to come over for a visit.

Colt had his first ever play-date for an hour and a half!!!

A simple day an amazing day!!!!

And Colt's bumps and bruises are healing really well.

And this family is embracing a miracle emerging!

January 10th, day 38. 1 of his supplements at 7:00 am and 1 at 6:00 pm

Another good morning, Colt woke up bright eyed and bushy tailed. Both kiddos got themselves dressed and ate a good breakfast.

Dave and I have been noticing that Colt's appetite has gotten better. He will now sit down the entire time at the table with us and finish his meal. Before it was a constant reminder. "Colt, get back to the table and sit down. You need to finish your dinner" sort of thing. A typical evening meal before would be that he would get up and run around 3 - 4 times during the meal running or pacing and flapping his arms.

Looking forward to seeing how his day at school went.

Dave met Colt after school as I had to take the girls around to sell girl scout cookies, Hunter and I got home ~ 5 pm. Colt and Dave seemed very relaxed. As soon as I got dinner prepared and in the oven Colt sat down with me for ~ 20 minutes and did his homework. He also studied his spelling words with his dad.

Again, Colt's appetite is much better. At dinner he sat down and didn't fidget around he sat and ate his entire meal.

After dinner, the kids washed up for bed and we read some stories for ~ 30 minutes.

January 11, day 39. 1 of his supplements at 6:45 am and 1 at 3:15 pm

Colt's days are becoming all the more consistent. This wonderful window is staying open! No major breakthroughs, however he continues to engage. Still playing with his friends on the playground, focus is much better on his work both at school and at home. We are engaging in conversations and the best part is that Colt is responding to subtle jokes, even if it is on Spongebob Squarepants!

Last night we were reading and talking about some old fashioned nursery rhymes and the "little girls are made of sugar and spice and everything nice" came up today Colt told me when he got home that he was made of sugar and spice and everything nice and his sister was made of snakes and snails and puppy dog tails because it was more fitting :~)

What can I say ... another GREAT day!

* * * * * * * * * * *

January 12th , DAY 40. 1 of his supplements @ 7:00 am and 1 @ 5:00 pm

I am going to start today’s journal backwards.

"Today Colt was raising his hand and participating in a class discussion. Yesterday he did an amazing job with an independent writing activity.  Awesome!!!"   Jenny Grant, Colt's homeroom teacher.

I feel like that says it all! But there is even more.

I picked up Hunter and her friend Bella from school today girl scout cookie orders we walked around with a third friend, Keeley and her little brother, sister and mom (thank you Sherry!!!!). After our big adventure out, Hunter and I invited everyone back to the house for hot cocoa and pop-corn.  O.K. do you get the picture I'm painting here?  6 year old little girls, a 4 year old little boy and an 18 month old little girl ALL coming over to the house AND Colt is home.

And not a problem at all.

No, Colt did not hang out with us, however he did not panic, he did not complain, he did not hide he simply went into his bedroom and decided to watch a movie until all the kids were gone. Afterwards, he did tell me "Mom, you are now having too many playdates for Hunter ". What can I say, I just gave him a big hug and thanked him for being a GREAT big brother!

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

January 13th, Day 41. 1 1/2 of his supplements at 7:00 am, 1 at 6:00 pm

Started off this morning with 1 1/2 of his “special” supplements. Colt's appetite continues to be healthy. I made him a big breakfast, but the bus arrived just when he had started eating, so I told to bus driver to go on without Colt and I would bring him to school. Colt ate his entire breakfast, got ready for school and waited in the car 'til I was ready. When we arrived at school, I asked Colt if he wanted me to walk him out to the playground to meet his para ... "No thanks, mom. I can do it myself". I gave him a big hug.

We are noticing that by giving Colt a His supplements later in the afternoon/ early evening, he sleeps so much better and wakes up that much more refreshed.

Another GREAT report for Colt! Colt took the bus home today as I had to take Hunter to ballet. He told his dad that he sat with a preschooler and tried to be his friend. Please note: the bus that Colt takes is for challenged children. On the days that the preschoolers are onboard, Colt is most stressed today Colt decided to help out the youngsters!

When I got home Colt was happy, energetic, but not so focused. Homework was a difficult task tonight. Took both Dave and me to sit down and work with him. What we did notice is that Colt has more control over his gross motor skills. His energy is higher, but he is also coordinated especially when he is dancing and he has been keeping his heals down!

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

January 14th, Day 42. 1 of his supplements at 7:00 am and 1 at 2:45 pm

What can I say, a perfect morning. Colt got himself dressed for school, ate his entire breakfast without jumping around and gave me a kiss good bye :~)

Picked Colt up from school at 1:30 (early Fridays) and another great report coming out of a classroom one of Colt's teachers (she works with Colt every two weeks)" amazing progress Colt, you really participated in the class today and she didn't even know that I was standing there!

AND... Colt has been playing basketball in PE not only did his ball hit the backboard his dribbling skills have improved.

After school. grocery shopping. I felt like I was at Disneyland, Colt and Hunter pushed the grocery cart and showed me all the " new and improved " items in the store. Colt was focused. He was teasing his sister, but having fun.

This evening another WOW. No push for the TV or computer. We had a snack, put up groceries, talked about nothing in particular and Colt is keeping his heals down I haven't had to ask him once!

Dave went to bed early and the babies and I snuggled on the couch to watch a movie, Hunter fell asleep ~ 9:30 pm and Colt put himself to bed around the same time.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

January 15th, Day 43 1 of his supplements at 10:00 am and 1 at 6:30 pm

Except for the fact that Colt and Hunter now like to "push each other’s buttons"  it was a relaxing morning. Colt was excited to show me some of his new dance moves. "Hey, MOM, I've found my hidden talent!" "And what would that be?" I asked ... "Dancing ... I love to DANCE!"

Colt continues to keep his heals down without me reminding him still working on the flapping of the arms when he gets over excited. And at breakfast Dave and I noticed that Colt didn't make a HUGE mess. Usually he is wearing more food than goes in his mouth ... from picking at it and fidgeting. Today, looks like a typical 8 year old would have been sitting at the table :~)

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

January 16th, Day 44. 1 of his supplements at 8:30 am

Colt woke up with a scratchy throat and asked if he could stay home from church. Colt had a good appetite, but his energy was up and down most of the day.

2: 15 pm Hunter was invited to a sleepover. I dropped her off at her friend’s house on my way out to a presentation.

4:45 pm Dave called me and told me that I needed to wrap things up and head home. Colt was feelin' out of sorts and had a slight temp.

5:30 pm ... returned home. Colt seemed a lot better, but had a deep cough and stuffy nose. Dave had given him some children's Advil so no temp when he was going to bed.

With feeling out of sorts, Colt didn't want to take anymore of anything, so we held off on giving him his second His supplements.

2:00 am woke up with Colt having a temp of 101 ... another dose of Children's Tylenol this time.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

January 17th, Day 45. 1 of his supplements at 7:00 am and 1 at 3 pm

Colt was still feeling pretty nasty, so I took him to the doctor at ~ 10:00 am. Sure enough, Strep Throat. Poor Baby! I have to say, his window is definitely staying open. Colt was able to explain to both the nurse and the doctor why he wasn't feeling well. And he told the doctor that he did not want a shot and went into detail on why he did not want a shot :~) He wanted a "kid-friendly" medicine and reminded her that cherry flavor is not kid friendly.

On our way home, Colt was admiring the view of Sitka. "Mom, we are so lucky to live in Sitka! It is so pretty, especially from this view." He was speaking of the view of the harbor going over the bridge back into town. "There is the sidewalk on the bridge that we walk on it when the weather is nicer!"  I am really enjoying conversations with my son!

Colt has been a trooper taking his "kid friendly" medicine. He  continues to stay engaged, heals down, flapping of the arms really disappearing ... and a nice attention span.

Hunter is feeling a bit under the weather as well will probably keep both home from school tomorrow.

7:00 pm.  Cuddling with both of my babies as they both feel bad.   Early to bed for this family.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

January 18th, Day 46. 1 of his supplements at 8:00 am no second dose.

Colt woke us up at 7:30 am when he saw the big school bus go by. He wanted to make certain that his little sister didn't miss the bus. I told him not to worry, that Hunter was going to stay home as well.

Amazing how fast our little ones feel better. Even though they are both stuffed up, they are reading, coloring and dancing to "JUST DANCE II" on the Wii ... I have to remind myself that they are sick :~).

Again no major WOW's today rather a consistency in what has already emerged. I feel like all those years of early intervention (a definite must) Colt was absorbing everything that we were teaching him. But now that the window has opened he can and has stepped into our world.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

January 19th, Day 47. 1 of supplements at 8:30 am

Colt and Hunter stayed home from school one more day to be sure their little systems are free and clear of any ailments. And with the energy these two have this morning back to school tomorrow!

A continued calm and focus for Colt. He was playing bowling, tennis and boxing on the Wii with Hunter for ~ 45 minutes. We are still working on his coordination, but there is a better overall control.

He is now resting and listening to/ researching Elvis Presley music :~)

We have been invited to participate in a creative movement class this afternoon I am looking forward to see how Colt does.

4:05 - 5:05 creative movement class, Colt attended the class. It looked as though he was having a good time. His teacher said that he fit right in. Lots of smiles, giggles and PARTICIPATION! I did notice that when the teacher was giving instructions, Colt would move to the outside of the group and watch sort of swaying back and forth until she spoke with Colt directly. A little bit of tippy toe walking, but I didn't notice flapping arms. It was a small class. The instructor, 4 girls and Colt. He said he would like to try it again next week.

Grocery shopping after dance and then home to get dinner started. Colt was very helpful putting the groceries away. He also hung out with me in the kitchen while I was preparing dinner ... a nice conversation about nothing much in particular.

Great appetite!

Colt fell asleep before I gave him his second His supplements not to worry. He seemed to stay on track all day today.  Back to school in the morning.

January 20th, Day 48. 1 of his supplements at 6:45 am 1 at 6:30 pm

Colt is feeling so much better from the strep infection he had, the antibiotic kicked in.  Both children off to school this morning. They will have a short two day week :~)

Returned home with Hunter at 4:30 after dance class. Colt was calm and focused. He took his antibiotic along with a snack before dinner. As I was getting dinner prepared Colt, Hunter and Dave sat down and read 3 books. Colt also went over his spelling word list with his dad.

Kids wanted to watch American Idol at 7 pm. Colt took the initiative to take a shower and get ready for bed before the show.

A nice mellow evening ... kids in bed at 8:30

 * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

January 21st,  Day 49. 1 of his supplements at 6:45 am another 1 and 1 Probiotic at 2:15 pm

Colt got up and dressed by himself at 6:20 this morning. He relaxed and watched cartoons and ate some breakfast while waiting for his school bus. Again, when he takes his supplements right before bed he seems to have a better night sleep and wake up refreshed. I will also note, that Colt, now, on a regular basis will "sit still" and watch an entire television show or read a book. Before he would jump up and wander around the room while watching something and Dave and I would constantly have to remind him to sit down or stay still. I am far from encouraging my son to be a couch potato, but having him "relax" for a good 45 minutes is wonderful!!!!!!

1:30 pm Early day out on Friday. Colt came in and told me all about his day at school. Friday is free swim day dive for toys, float on a yellow mat, and play with tiny balls? Spelling test went well, but he remembered that he spelled "could" incorrectly. He said he spelled it "could" ... OOPS!

Today was an "ordinary" day on the playground "didn't do anything in particular" according to Colt. He did hang out with his friend Veronica, though.

Focus and conversation much better HOWEVER, Colt has learned the art of disagreeing and being a bit argumentative.

Bus ride home was fine took a bit longer because they had to drop off an extra student Colt apologized for being a few minutes late :~)

Still have to watch the effects the computer has on Colt ... he tends to get lost and over stimulated even though he is not playing games. We are keeping his computer privileges down to 30 minutes.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

January 24th, Day 52. 1 of his supplements + probiotic at 7 am . 1 of his supplements + probiotic at 6:00 pm

I'm skipping ahead a few days. Colt's progress remains steady. No major "wow's" however he continues to stay engaged. It is wonderful having his consistent participation. This evening, he wasn't even interested in the computer,  he wanted to read us chapters in his new book.

I asked Colt how school was today "nothing particularly special, yah, an ordinary day!"

Started giving Colt a probiotic with his supplements he seems to like it.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

January 25th,  Day 53. 1 of his supplements + Probiotic at 3:00 pm

I tried to give Colt his supplements this morning, but I ran out of yogurt and he DID NOT like it mixed in with juice oh well.

At school today, though, Tana gave Colt two thumbs up. He was able to complete a project in 20 minutes that took the rest of his classmates 2 days to work on. He was focused, read and understood the facts and put them to paper!

This afternoon, Colt decided he wanted to mix his own yogurt. He proceeded to get the His supplements and Probiotic, open them up and mix in with his yogurt. I'm thrilled that he understands how the supplements are helping him.

Lots of book reading this evening. Hunter is in a reading race and the two sat down and read 16 books! WOW! I'm proud of both my babies :~)

Homework was a bit of a challenge ... Colt has an aversion to math and did not want to even attempt his math assignments. The work isn't due until Friday will have to try again tomorrow.

For me another GREAT Day!!! According to Colt, an ordinary day, what can I say!?!

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

January 26th, Day 54. 1 of his supplements + 1 Probiotic at 7 am . 1 of his supplements + 1 Probiotic at 6 pm

This morning, I think Colt got more of his yogurt on his shirt then he did in his mouth. I guess trying to eat without paying attention does that.

He has creative movement class this evening, week 2... we'll see how he enjoys it.

Oh no, Colt had a difficult time in school today. It wasn't the entire day just towards the end. The school went on a field trip to a concert. Colt and his para took the regular bus with the rest of the class. According to Tana, the bus was loud and there was a lot of confusion getting all the kids situated at the concert (something to be expected with a lot of 3rd graders). It was afterwards, when the school buses were running behind schedule ... Colt panicked thinking that he would miss his ride home and then mom and dad wouldn't know where we were. He told us that he just wanted to go home and go to bed! Thanks to the Principal, Colt and Tana had a personal ride back to the school in Mr. Demmert's car.

Dave and I sat down with Colt and told him that he would never be left behind. If the bus had to leave before he returned, Tana would call us and we would be there in minutes besides ... I was there anyway waiting for him. So, not only was the bus waiting for the children, mom was there as well he actually had 2 rides!

We did go to creative movement. Colt seemed a bit distant and distracted at the beginning running back and forth flapping his "wings", Hunter told me not to worry that Colt will have a better day tomorrow :~) He actually became engaged ~ 20 minutes into the class when his teacher put on some music that caught his attention "Over the Rainbow" Brother IZ's version.

And the evening continued to look up. When we got back from dance Colt proceeded into the kitchen and showed Dave how to mix his supplements, Probiotic and yogurt without either of us asking or reminding him! Also, while we were making dinner, Colt asked me to sit down and help him with his homework!!!! That is a 180 change ... I am usually chasing him down to get his work done. And he completed 2 pages.

We still have a lot of math to work on.   Will have to try again tomorrow.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

January 27th, Day 55. 1 His supplements + 1 Probiotic at 6:45 am. Another + 1 Probiotic at 4:45 pm

This morning I fed Colt his yogurt I wanted to make certain he got the full dose of the His supplements supplement.

Colt got himself dressed, ate breakfast and off to school. He will be on the bus home today as I have to take Hunter to ballet.

Received a phone call when I was at ballet with Hunter it was Colt. He wanted to let me know that he was home with dad. He also initiated a conversation telling me how the bus ride home was great because there were no preschoolers riding the bus. He sounded very happy. We talked a bit about his day in school and what he was going to get for snack. When I asked him to do me a BIG favor ie: work on some of his homework pages ... his voice went down and reluctantly he said O.K.

Hunter and I got home ~ 4:30. Colt had not done any homework, but he reminded me that he needed his His supplements and Probiotic ... so off he went to mixing it up:~)

We struggled a bit with getting homework done, but by 8:30 pm mission accomplished.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

January 28th, Day 56. 1 of his supplements + 1 Probiotic at 6:45 am . 1 of his supplements + 1 Probiotic at 6:00 pm

Again, I took no chances of Colt not getting the full dose of supplements I fed his yogurt to him.

Picked up Hunter and Colt up from school. Typical SE Alaska stormy weather was blowing in. Colt was laughing and giggling and laughing as the snow and wind swept across his face trying to get into the car. "A Good Day" according to both Colt and Tana. I know that Tana meant a good day at school. Colt meant it was a good day because it is Friday!

* * * * * * * * * * * * *

January 29th,  Day 57. 1 His supplements + 1 Probiotic at 7:30 am no afternoon supplements

A relaxing Saturday,  kids were being kids and I got some housework accomplished Hunter surprised me and wanted to help with the laundry and dishes :~)

Colt wants to be a DJ when he grows up I hope it is the kind of music Dave and I enjoy!?!

Colt and I both fell asleep watching a movie, oops no afternoon/ evening supplement for either of us.

* * * * * * * * * * * * *

January 30th, Day 58. 1 of his supplements + Probiotic at 8 am . 1 his supplements + 1 probiotic at 6;30 pm

I promised to take the kids to church this morning, but my morning escaped me Colt was a bit disappointed, but told me he could relax since he didn't sleep in :~)

Marlina Lee and Pat Weaver flew in this morning. met the ladies at the airport. Colt is curious to meet a Blue Diamond with Nu Skin. I am adding this because this child has devoured the Nu Skin catalog and asks me when I will be Team Elite not a casual question, a serious one.

Spent the day with the ladies.

Dave spent the day with the kids they were excellent for him!?!

* * * * * * * * * * * * *

January 31st, Day 59. 1 His supplements + 1 Probiotic at 6:45 am . 1 His supplements at 6:00 pm (no probiotic .. I ran out ...)

Colt was having some sort of nightmare in the middle of the night this is new for him. I went in his room ~ 2 am to lie down beside him. He seemed to settle down. The morning was fine. Colt didn't remember his nightmare. Getting ready for school was typical (in the new sense of typical).

Picked the kids up from school and told them both that Miss Marlina and Miss Pat wanted to meet them. At first Colt just wanted to go home and "relax". But after we got home he asked me if they specifically asked to meet him. My response was " yes ". So colt agreed to ride in the car while I was taking the ladies to an appointment. Miss Pat sat in the car with Colt while Marlina and I went into a brief meeting ... he went on asking her questions about the Nu Skin products and also told her how he wants to be a DJ when he grows up :~)

After the meeting it was a bit early to drop the ladies off at their next location, so we went back to our house and Colt gave them a tour of the house.

Thanks buddy, you did a GREAT job!

Today was full for me went to a business presentation at 6:30. At 8:30 pm Colt was calling me to remind me not to be too late and also, dad had made him some mac and cheese.

At 9:15 pm Colt called one more time and told me that I was now very, very late and he wanted me to come home.

Colt continues to amaze us all. He is a brilliant loveable boy, and this window/ this door he is sooo much happier. I know that we are all seeing and feeling it!

Katherine added this evening "Colt used to just stay in his room when I came over. Now he says hello, checks to see if I'm still there, and tells me good bye. He is much happier."

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

 February 1st, Day 60. 1 of his supplements at 7:00 am no afternoon supplement (ran out of yogurt)

A good day at school. I got a call that Colt's pants were really wet and he needed a change of clothes. The good news, he was playing on the playground and went down the slide and got soaking wet (SE Alaska rain) no bad news. Colt also has a "new" playground friend :~)

I went to school and dropped off some dry clothes for Colt to change into.

Ran out of yogurt and Colt didn't want to take his supplements tonight

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

February 2nd, day 61.  No His supplements in the morning . 1 His supplements at 5:45 pm

No morning supplement,  no yogurt for Colt ...

Colt was obviously more tired and distracted. Tana told me he had an O.K. day at school, but she had to prompt him many times to stay on task.

At creative movement removed at the beginning. Tip toe walking and flapping of his arms was more present.

A new student was in the class today, Raegan. Colt knew Raegan from karate class years before as the creative movement class progressed he seemed to become more engaged.

This evening, Colt ate his yogurt and His supplements within minutes of coming home. He was fairly focused on his homework.

Good appetite at dinner and wanting Dave and I to read a story to him. We read the first chapter to "George's Marvelous Medicine" Colt was LAUGHING!!!!

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

February 3rd, Day 62. 1 of his supplements at 7:00 am and 1 of his supplements at 5:00 pm

Much better day, Colt was up and ready for the bus at 7:15 am. Tana told me he had a good day at school. The kids were asked to write down 3 things that they want to improve on by the end of the school year. Colt wrote down ...  improve on my hand writing, run faster and be better at skipping. During gym, Colt told his teacher that he had to run faster so he could keep up with his friend, Veronica :~)

Dave had an appointment, so Colt had to come to ballet after school with me and Hunter. He didn't want to wait in the studio, preferred to wait in the car. I ran Hunter in and came back out to keep Colt company. We decided this would be a good time to do his homework. WOW is all I can say. Colt actually told me that "this is nice and relaxing". He accomplished all of his homework and some reading in 30 minutes! I might have to keep this scenario in mind for the future.

At home now, use of the computer still tends to stimulate the flapping of his arms.

Wonderful appetite this evening, Colt actually twirled his pasta on his fork and much more food went in his stomach rather than on his chair.

Read another chapter of "George's Marvelous Medicine" I better become a better reader Colt kept correcting me OOPS!

Ordered more probiotic ... hoping we get it in the next day or two.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

February 4th, Day 63. 1 of his  supplements @ 6:50 am no afternoon supplement Colt had a good day at school. A good day all around, his window of staying present has become consistent. The only set back we are noticing is when we allow him on the computer. Colt tends to get over-stimulated and gravitates towards music with a repeating rhythm. That in turn stimulates the flapping of his arms. Besides that, his progress continues to be hopeful.

February 5th, Day 64. 1 of his supplements @ 12:00 pm no 2nd his supplements supplement

Good day at home.   Again, no major improvements, but Colt's window continues to stay open.

Actually, I must make note that after a morning of Colt on the computer ... Dave and I asked him to get off so that his brain to take a break. Colt didn't fuss. We (Dave, Hunter and I ) were watching a movie. Colt didn't join us right away, but instead went into the kitchen an decided to sit down and draw! He came out with a picture of himself and Hunter. He titled the picture "A Barrow Bing" I'm not sure what that means ... Colt doesn't either. He just said he made up silly words.

Dave and Hunter fell asleep early. Colt and I stayed up and watched "Toy Story 2". It is nice that Colt can sit and watch a film without having to run around.

 Colt didn't want to take a second His supplements ... it is the weekend so I'm not concerned.

 * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

 February 6th, Day 65. 1 of his supplements @ 12:30 pm... no second his supplements supplement

 The kids and I went to church this morning. Colt really enjoyed the singing and sang along. When the kids were excused to attend Sunday school, both Hunter and Colt wanted to stay with me and listen to the Pastor they did well for the first 30 minutes and then got pretty fidgety. Colt told me that he would try Sunday school next week. He said he stayed with me today because he was fairly new coming to church :~)

 A fun Super Bowl Sunday afternoon ....

The one thing I noticed as I was putting Colt to bed, he was starting to make those "uncontrolled" funny faces again. I'm not sure if it was because he was tired or if it is because we have slacked off the last few days and gave him only 1 of his supplements.

 I will be certain (starting tomorrow) to increase his supplements back to 2 of his supplements a day.

  * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

February 7th, Day 66.  1 of his supplements at 7:00 am and 1 of his supplements at 4:00 pm

Making certain we increase Colt's supplement dose back to two a day. He is still a bit "off" today running in circles.  Had to remind him multiple times to settle down. We'll see how he does over the next couple of days.

 Colt's beautiful white teeth have started to get a dark tinge we are hoping it is not from taking the His supplements (we open the capsule up as Colt has a difficult time swallowing pills). Another possibility is that he was recently on an antibiotic making an appointment with his dentist tomorrow to check things out.

 February 8th, Day 67. 1 of his supplements at 7:00 am and 1 at 4:00 pm

Back on track.  Amazing how the two supplements keep Colt focused. Tana and I really didn't discuss todays activities, but when Colt got home we were able to sit down and do an hour’s worth of homework without interruption. Subtraction might not be Colt's favorite homework but he had a blast doing multiplication.

 And each night we have been reading chapters from  "George's Marvelous Medicine" silly story. I'm thoroughly enjoying it because Colt just laughs and laughs and laughs.

 February 9th, Day 68. 1 of his supplements at 6:50 am and 1 at 6:30 pm

 Another good day.

Tana had a challenge keeping Colt focused. Not because he was distracted, but because "his head was already full ". When she asked what it was full of "music, I can't get this tune out of my head."

Colt didn't want to go to creative movement this evening. We discussed why he didn't want to go and he said that he needed to take a break. Dave and I told him it was his choice, but if he decided to stay home he could not use the computer. He could rest, read some books, homework, etc ... Colt decided to stay home and made valentine's day cards with his sister! And ... he didn't even ask to use the computer!!!!

 Later on, Colt and Dave put on some ZZ Top music the kids were dancing away :~)

 Again, the two His supplements really seem to make a difference he was wandering for a bit this evening. I had to remind Colt twice to sit down other than that, Great Day!

February 10th, Day 69. 1 of his supplements at 7:00 am . 1 His supplements at 4:30 pm

Another wonderful day! I picked Colt up from school today because Hunter had a bit of a fever so we stayed back from going to ballet. When I picked Colt up he was soooo excited. He rode his bike at school today! This is a wonderful accomplishment. Please remember that Colt will be 9 years old next month and up until now had not mastered riding a bike ... we are so proud of him!

 February 11th, Day 70.  1 of his supplements at 7:00 am. 1 of his supplements at 3:00 pm

I joined Colt at the pool this morning. WOW! His confidence is amazing. He is like a fish in that pool where as last year a lot of hesitation. And the smiles. I brought the video camera he was having a really good time love to see those smiles!

And when he came home "I have a playdate with Veronica tomorrow!" was the announcement he made

February 12th, Day 71. 1 of his supplements at 8:30 am and 1 at 7:30 pm

 Another wonderful day.  Colt joined the daisy troop at the Pioneer home to deliver Valentine's Day cards and pass out ice cream. At first he wanted to stay in the car while I brought Hunter in, but asked that he join us. He came in and socialized for 30 minutes ....

 AND on our way home, we picked up his friend, Veronica. She came for a visit for 4 1/2 hours. The kids had a GREAT time. Colt was a little nervous knowing that he had a guest at the house, but he relaxed when we got them boxing and dancing on the Wii and I'm certain the pizza and homemade cookies was an ice breaker as well.

 The day escaped us (too much fun) so Colt took his second His supplements quite late.

 February 13th, Day 72. 1 of his supplements at 12:00 pm  no afternoon supplement

Woke up at 8:00 am to get ready for church Hunter got up early with me, but Colt stayed sound asleep. At 9 am I ran downstairs to check on him. Still sleeping I woke him to make certain he was alright. He was fine, but extremely tired. I let him stay home with his Dad a growth spurt or the His supplements healing something in his little system?

 He was up and going strong when we got home ~ 12:00 pm

 We watched an amazing film about a woman who is challenged with Autism "Temple Grandin" ... Colt was nervous, but curious. He could identify with some of her actions. We spoke about it in depth. Temple sees things in incredible detail, where Colt was describing how he "sees" different tones in music.

 I think we will watch the film again in a couple days a wonderful tool to help Colt express himself in better detail.
